My new sunday period

It's a well known fact that ITV can't have a period to save it's life, I mean, It's been understood.

Every body knows that the BBC have the best periods, with the obvious exception of that atrocity Dick Rise to candleshit

It was because of this I took it upon myself to avoid Downton Abby like the plague. From the outside, all I saw was another period drama in which Maggie Smith has been type cast as the same character she has always been.. a miserable old bitch in some type of hilarious or frumpy outfit.
Regardless of Smith's typecast, The advertisments were dull, all they showcased were the sexiest and un-pc attitudes of that period which are terribly snore worthy like-
"she doesn't need an opinion, when she marries, her husband will tell her what her opinions are"
such quotes made me conclude that it is no doubt a drama for girls and man hating lesbians. A story about the struggle of women and their expectations and limitations of...... BORING!! I don't need or want to watch another period about women's rights, who cares? I don't.

On my first viewing, I must admit I didn't take much notice of the story or any of the characters, I was more interested in the costume. I originally assumed it was set in 1915-18, as there is a clear 1920's cross over emerging, however, to my dismay, I came to learn it's set in 1912, shame only a few of the costumes reflect this.
Since it is set in 1912, I feel they are ever so obliged to include the sinking of the Titanic, I mean.. they just have to, thats what 1912 is famous for.

Better luck next time ITV, Maybe next time you won't send your interns to Beyond Retro to source your costumes.
